HEATHERS THE MUSICAL är baserad på en amerikansk film från 1988 med samma namn. Handlingen följer en grupp populära tjejer som alla heter Heather på en high school i USA. Huvudpersonen Veronica Sawyer tröttnar på Heathers dominans och blir istället vän med den nya killen i skolan, JD. Tillsammans börjar de två att straffa skolans populära elever, men snart spårar allt ur. Musikalen tar upp teman som mobbning, självmord, makt och utanförskap. Heathers har blivit känd för sin svarta humor och sin satiriska kommentar om amerikansk high school-kultur.
